โ ๏ธ Early Access โ Work in Progress
RACECLUB launched in Early Access on 26 February 2026. Around half the planned tracks are marked "coming soon," the 8-car AI race mode is not yet available, and multiplayer is a planned future update. The game is actively being developed by Mixer Lab โ what's already there is excellent, but this is not yet a complete product. The $12.99 price reflects the early access discount; it will likely rise on full release.

About the Game
What is RACECLUB?
RACECLUB is a made-for-VR formula racing simulation developed by Mixer Lab Games, a European studio of self-described racing enthusiasts. It sits in a gap that has long existed on the Meta Quest platform โ there is no Gran Turismo, no Assetto Corsa, no proper F1 series running on standalone hardware. RACECLUB is the first serious attempt to fill that gap, built from the ground up for Quest rather than ported from another platform.
Two car classes are available: the Formula V12, a V12-engined car clearly inspired by classic F1 machinery, and the Formula Electric, inspired by Formula E โ where managing regenerative braking and power deployment is critical to a fast lap. Both cars handle authentically and feel meaningfully different from one another. Cars can be customised with different colour schemes and decals before hitting the track.
The "just one more lap" problem: UploadVR's reviewer sat down intending to play two hours. Three fully drained Quest batteries later, they hadn't stopped. The time attack mode โ where three ghost cars represent your personal best, the player ranked just above you globally, and the all-time track record โ creates an almost compulsive improvement loop. Every lap reveals somewhere a tenth of a second can be gained. That addictive quality is rare in VR racing and speaks to how well the core driving feel has been executed.
The racing line visualisation โ a coloured line running through the ideal trajectory on every corner โ sounds like a crutch but functions as one of the game's best features. It simultaneously teaches racecraft and creates a challenge: following the line perfectly under braking pressure is much harder than it looks, and the satisfaction of nailing a sequence of corners correctly is genuinely rewarding. The global leaderboard and ghost car system mean there is always a specific target to chase.

Formula V12 & Formula Electric
Two distinctly different cars with meaningfully different handling. The V12 is raw, powerful and rewards smooth inputs โ it feels like an authentic open-wheel racing car. The Electric variant requires active management of regenerative braking and power modes on each lap, adding a strategic layer that the V12 doesn't have. Choosing between them isn't cosmetic โ it changes how you approach every corner. Both can be customised with colours and liveries.
๐ป
Time Attack โ Three Ghost Cars
The core mode and the reason RACECLUB is addictive. Three ghost cars appear on track: a replay of your personal best lap, the car ranked immediately above you on the global leaderboard, and a replay of the all-time track record. Improving your global ranking requires beating the car just ahead โ a small, achievable target. Once beaten, a new ghost appears. It's a brilliantly simple escalation system that keeps every lap feeling purposeful.
๐ค
1v1 AI Duel โ Escalating Difficulty
Race against a single AI opponent. Beat their lap time and a faster AI appears next lap โ difficulty scales in real time with your improving performance. This creates a natural progression curve without fixed difficulty settings: beginners face manageable opponents, and skilled players will find the AI continually pushing back. A full 8-car AI race mode is listed as coming soon in a future update.
๐
Racing Line Visualisation
A coloured line runs through the optimal racing trajectory on every corner of every track. It sounds like a beginner's aid โ and it is, initially โ but it quickly becomes a challenge in itself. Hitting the apex correctly under braking, maintaining the line through a sequence of fast corners, carrying speed through a chicane โ these are genuinely difficult skills that the line helps develop. For a school context, this is also a concrete visual demonstration of geometric racing concepts: tangent lines, apexes, braking points and the physics of cornering speed.
๐ท
Multiple Camera Views โ Comfort Options
Five camera positions: traditional cockpit view (most immersive), snorkel position just behind the driver's helmet, nose of the car, a ground-level view beneath the car, and a third-person view above and behind. The third-person view is strongly recommended for students or new VR users prone to motion sickness โ the high-speed first-person cockpit view is intense and not appropriate for everyone. Worth trialling all positions as the cockpit is spectacular once comfortable.
School Value
Curriculum & Educational Fit
Engagement / motivation95%
Physics (forces, motion)80%
Maths (geometry, data)72%
RACECLUB is one of the most age-appropriate high-engagement VR titles available on Quest โ no violence, no mature content, just racing. That makes it genuinely usable in a broad range of school contexts without the content caveats required for games like Flight 74 or Warplanes: Air Corp.
For Physics, RACECLUB is a rich platform for discussing centripetal force, friction, air resistance, braking distances and the relationship between speed and cornering radius โ all visible in real time as you race. The racing line is literally a geometry problem made physical. For Maths, lap time data, leaderboard ranking and the marginal gains concept (shaving milliseconds) connect naturally to data handling and percentage change work. For Computing, the escalating AI duel system is an accessible discussion point for adaptive difficulty algorithms. For Design & Technology, the two car types โ V12 combustion vs Formula Electric regenerative braking โ open discussion about energy systems and engineering trade-offs. Suitable for all secondary ages.
XR School Verdict
Driving feel & physics9/10

Accessibility (camera options)8/10
Age appropriateness9/10
Content (Early Access)6/10
Multiplayer (coming soon)โ/10
Bottom line: The best formula racing experience available on standalone VR โ and one of the most engaging and addictive simulations on the Quest platform regardless of genre. Clean content makes it school-appropriate for all ages. Early Access means it's not yet complete, but what's already there is exceptional. Buy now at the lower price and watch it grow.
