Catan VR
Step onto the island of Catan in virtual reality. Roll dice, collect resources, build settlements and roads, and trade with rivals across a living 3D version of the world's most popular modern strategy board game. Developed in partnership with Catan creator Klaus Teuber.
$14.99 • Quest + Steam + PSVR
Catan (originally Settlers of Catan) is one of the most significant board games of the modern era. Designed by Klaus Teuber and published in 1995, it is credited with bringing strategic European-style board gaming to mainstream audiences, selling over 40 million copies in 40 languages. Catan VR, developed by Experiment 7 in partnership with Teuber and his son Benjamin, and published by Asmodee Digital, brings that experience into virtual reality.
The game launched on Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR in 2018 before arriving on Meta Quest in February 2021. It places you on the island of Catan itself: you stand at the table, reach forward to roll physical dice, collect resource cards, place settlements and roads with your hands, and negotiate with other players through voice. The environment is rich: wheat fields sway in the breeze, a mandolin strums in the background, and clouds roll over the hex-tiled mountains. The Quest version added a new "Study" room setting, 90Hz support, updated textures, and improved network stability.
Collect resources by having settlements adjacent to hex tiles that match the dice roll each turn. Trade 4:1 with the bank, 2:1 or 3:1 at harbours, or negotiate freely with other players. First to 10 victory points wins.
