HOLODECK
A comprehensive VR platform for medical education: human cadaver dissection, AI-powered CT/MRI segmentation, surgical simulation, and 3D anatomy study. Free on Steam, Meta Quest, and iOS.
Steam • Quest • iOS
MEDICALHOLODECK is a professional VR/AR platform for medical education and surgical training developed by MEDICALHOLODECK INC. Originally released on Steam in October 2017 and continuously updated since, it is now available across SteamVR, Meta Quest (standalone), and iOS. The platform is free to access, with a dedicated student access path: medical students can email proof of enrolment to receive free full access.
Unlike general-purpose anatomy apps, MEDICALHOLODECK is built around a suite of interlocking applications running on what the developer calls "Spatial OS" — an operating system for spatial medicine that runs simultaneously on VR headsets, stereoscopic 3D displays, and standard 2D screens. The result is a platform used globally by medical schools, hospitals, and clinical training programmes.
The platform has been continuously developed since 2017, with regular updates adding AI capabilities, new datasets, and improved collaboration features. A Steam review from a first-year medical student reads: "I loved this app because it gave me a new perspective on many structures that are difficult to grasp in lessons." The 82% to 84% positive rating across two Steam listings (reflecting different versions of the evolving platform) represents a genuinely positive consensus from a specialist audience.
MEDICALHOLODECK runs across an unusually broad range of platforms for a medical VR application: SteamVR for PC VR headsets, the Meta Quest store for standalone headset use without a PC, and iOS for mobile access. This multi-platform approach means medical students can access anatomy content on a standalone Quest headset in a university skills lab, on an iPhone during self-study, or in full PC VR for immersive surgical simulation.
