Knockout League – Arcade VR Boxing
What it is Knockout League is a single-player arcade-style boxing game built from the ground up for virtual reality, featuring 1:1 tracking of your head and hands.
Developer It is developed by Grab Games.
Gameplay Mechanics Players can throw straights, hooks, and uppercuts depending on their motion. Blocking is done by raising your hands in front of your face, and dodging involves leaning in one direction or ducking. The game is played standing in one spot — you can’t move around the ring. There are no button presses required; everything is based on physical movement.
Opponents There are nine opponents in total, each with their own characteristics, moves, fighting styles, and outfits — including a woman who punches in quick combos, a mad scientist with bionic implants and metal legs, a boxing octopus, and other unusual characters.
Inspiration The game feels directly inspired by Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Wii in how it makes use of motion controls — it even jokes about the first opponent not having a glass jaw.
Fitness Feature One of the game’s highlights is its calorie tracking feature — entering your weight and height lets the game estimate roughly how many calories you’ve burned per session, with players averaging around 50 calories per round of play.
Visuals & Atmosphere The game uses a cartoonish art style that works well for the type of opponents involved, and includes voice acting and narration from a trainer who guides you through learning skills and introduces opponents.
Mixed Reality Support The native Meta Quest version includes a Mixed Reality option.
Platform Compatibility Supported headsets include HTC Vive, Valve Index, Oculus Rift, Meta Quest (all generations), Windows Mixed Reality, and PSVR.
General Reception It is described as a well-crafted, beautiful-looking game with superb cartoon-style graphics, colourful characters, and astounding animations — praised as an immersive, enjoyable, and sweat-inducing experience where VR truly shines.
