Part 1: “Estrella: The Gift”

This illustrated tale draws from ancient Inca heritage and the spiritual traditions of Q’ero shamans in Peru’s sacred Andean valleys. Young Estrella seeks a legendary Inca treasure—a golden star said to grant extraordinary abilities and manifest all wishes. Her path crosses with Laika, a wise shaman who summons sacred spirit animals to guide her quest. These spirits lead Estrella through the Under World, Middle World, and Upper World to remarkable destinations. The Serpent spirits share hidden wisdom they’ve long protected. The Jaguar and Puma spirits conjure a sudden shift that leaves Estrella disoriented, yet she presses forward with courage. She crosses oceans alongside the small but valiant Hummingbird spirits, then soars through endless skies with the Eagle and Condor. Ultimately, she encounters Father Sky and Mother Earth, who share their eternal love story and present her with a guiding star. Estrella’s doubt and fear dissolve, replaced by bravery, wonder, and imagination. The star leads her home, transforming into a golden necklace that rests against her heart. In that moment, she understands—the treasure was never lost. Her many gifts were within her all along, simply waiting to be remembered.

Part 2: “The River and The Clouds”

This illustrated poem takes inspiration from Zen Master, poet, and peace advocate Thich Nhat Hanh:

“A beautiful River once flowed peacefully… Until one day, she became aware of the clouds drifting within her—clouds of every shade and shape. She spent her days pursuing these clouds, yearning to claim one as her own. But clouds wander freely across the heavens, constantly changing—one moment resembling a coat, the next a galloping horse. The clouds’ fleeting nature caused the River great anguish. Her joy became an endless chase, one cloud after another, while despair, frustration, and bitterness consumed her existence. Then a powerful wind swept through, clearing every cloud from the sky, leaving it vast and empty…. That night, for the first time, she could hear her own voice—the sound of her waters rushing against her shores. In listening to herself, she made a profound discovery. What she’d been seeking had always resided within her. She understood that clouds are simply water in another form. They emerge from water and return to water. And she, too, was water… As she opened herself fully to the evening sky, she received the reflection of the full Moon—luminous, perfect, like a precious gem resting in her depths… The radiant Moon glides through the boundless empty sky. When the rivers of our minds flow freely, that same beautiful Moon reflects in each of us. This was the River’s awakening. She welcomed the Moon’s image into her heart, and together—water, clouds, and Moon—they walked in slow, mindful meditation toward the ocean…”

Part 3: “Pebble Meditation” draws from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh:

“Inhaling, I am a flower. Exhaling, I am renewed. Inhaling, I am a mountain. Exhaling, I am grounded. Inhaling, I am calm water. Exhaling, I mirror reality as it is. Inhaling, I am open space. Exhaling, I am liberated.”
