Biology Dissection Lab

Developer: Created by Xennial Digital, it redefines education for Middle and High School Biology programs by seamlessly blending traditional dissections with Virtual Reality.

Specimens: The app features five specimens: Worm, Clam, Crayfish, Fish, and Frog.

What You Can Do: Guided experiences allow students to master incisions and understand external and internal anatomy. An interactive gallery lets students review each specimen’s anatomy before proceeding to the dissection. Students can master the use of virtual tools like scissors, forceps, and a scalpel to dissect organisms.

Controls: The app offers the option to perform dissections with full hand-tracking capabilities for more seamless use, while also offering the option to use Meta Quest controllers.

Languages: The app is available in English and Spanish.

Accessibility & Benefits: It addresses logistical challenges, making high-quality education accessible by removing resource, storage, and cost barriers. The VR Lab extends learning beyond the classroom, enabling students to access it anywhere, promoting independent and unlimited practice and study.

Development: The development team worked closely with experienced Biology teachers and Subject Matter Experts in dissections to create a resource that meets the needs of modern educators and students.

Versions: There are two versions available — a standard single-device version on the Meta Quest store, and a Pro version designed for campus-wide school deployment, which is secured via passcode and requires an annual license acquired directly through Xennial or one of its distribution partners.

Platform: Available on Meta Quest via the Meta Horizon Store, and also compatible with PICO XR headsets through Xennial directly.
