Kingspray Graffiti VR unleashed
Kingspray
Graffiti VR
A multiplayer VR graffiti simulator developed with world-class aerosol artists, using real Ironlak aerosol colours, realistic cap types, pressure fading, wet/dry effects, and drips. Spray legally on train carriages, city walls, rooftops, and an abandoned subway station. Up to four players painting together from anywhere in the world.
Real Ironlak aerosol colours
Kingspray Graffiti VR was developed by Infectious Ape with direct collaboration from world-class aerosol artists. The design brief was authenticity: rather than building a generic spray paint simulator, the studio consulted professional graffiti artists to develop realistic cap physics, genuine pressure and fading dynamics, realistic drip behaviour, metallic paints, and a colour palette using real-world Ironlak aerosol colours rather than invented swatches. The result is the most physically accurate graffiti simulation available in VR — the spray behaves the way spray actually behaves.
The twelve environments give artists varied surfaces to work on: corrugated iron, plaster, brick, various concretes, trucks, buses, and vans all respond differently to paint application. Each setting has its own atmosphere — the train yard at night, the abandoned subway station, the dusky city rooftop — and the app includes scaffolding, ladders, and a scissor lift to reach upper sections of wall. A projector system lets artists beam reference images directly onto the paint surface before starting, enabling traceable reference work in the same way real muralists use projectors on location.
Tool highlights: multiple real Ironlak cap types (fat cap, skinny cap, outline cap) each producing different spray patterns; reference projector to beam images onto wall surfaces; in-game camera with 360° panorama mode; replay director camera to record sessions; colour sampling from existing work; in-game avatar customisation including hat, mask, and can design.
